Atrox the Saberlion - Handmade Doll by thornwolf Atrox the Saberlion - Handmade Doll by thornwolf
First things first I WILL ACCEPT OFFERS ON THIS DOLL! If you would like to buy him, please make me an offer! No trades, sorry. - thornwolf227[at] Offers are accepted but I also would like to keep this guy so I have a number in my head, but for the right buyer I will happily rehome him.

:iconbalaa: and I have project weekends on occasion where we pick a project and attempt to finish as much as we can on our days off. Its an exercise in problem solving and we have something to show for it in the end, which makes it much more rewarding! Last time we made pajama pants. This time we each made a handmade doll. MUCH more complicated!

This one is my creation. His name is Atrox and he's a prehistoric saberlion. I know such things don't exist but I love lions and I love sabertooth critters so I felt like combining my own aesthetic taste into something unique.

His face and limbs are hand sculpted with sculpey and painted with acrylics, with glass eyes and even bristly whiskers. His claws are out and ready to rumble, he's a real bruiser!

His mane is super soft and plush, it just begs to be stroked and petted. And lets not forget his nubby little spotted saber tail!

He has a wire armature and is somewhat flexible, but mostly just sits and looks pretty. He's between 9-10 inches tall and has some weight to him. He's really fun to hold :) After I finished him I sat out on the back patio with him for cuddles and outside time. XD

Since he is an art doll he is intended for display and light handling only, though he is very durable in construction, I don't recommend taking any chances. He is one of a kind, definitely not something I ever expected to make, but I'm quite pleased with the result!

Oh wow! This is stunning! The details are excellent~ I'm looking to make a lion-esque doll of my own, but have been stumped by how to make the main nice and poofy. Yours is the best I've seen! Do you have any tips how to do so?

Well, this is my first doll, so I unfortunately don't have any tips, per se, but my fur choice was definitely important in the doll's creation. I used professional grade fur fabric, not craft store fun fur, but I'm fortunate enough to live close to the Los Angeles fashion district where I can get such things and my friend had some scraps from the same place. Other than that I can recommend either or sometimes fursuit builders will have fur scraps which are ideal for making the dolls. I think is a place to ask for scraps.

So in love with this! Did you end up selling him? <3

Thank you! Unfortunately for me, no, not yet. I have had lots of inquiries and "I'll come back later I want him" comments, but so far not a definite sale. He's still up on my storenvy though!

You need to stop commenting on all of my submissions, and threatening someone with rape through a chain letter? In some cases you could get in legal trouble for that. Go away or I will block you.
